HC Deb 05 June 1935 vol 302 cc1846-7
19. Mr. JANNER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether a copy of the Report of Sir Felix Pole on Palestine railway development has yet been received by the Colonial Office?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Yes, Sir.

Mr. JANNER

Would the right hon. Gentleman now give an opportunity to Members of the House to see that report, or copies of it?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Obviously, I must consult with the High Commissioner of Palestine on the question of the publication of a report made to him.

Mr. JANNER

Would the right hon. Gentleman take immediate steps to see that this is done, because there are very important issues raised?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Some time ago I asked the High Commissioner of Palestine to let me have his considered opinion on the matter.

Mr. JANNER

Will the right hon. Gentleman tell the House how long he has had this report in the Colonial Office?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

If the hon. Member puts a question on the Paper, I have no doubt the precise date will be given to him, but he may be perfectly certain that there has been no delay whatever in the matter. As a matter of fact, the High Commissioner discussed all these matters with Sir Felix Pole before he left, and I think he had a preliminary version of the report before he received it finally.
