§ 41. Mr. CHORLTONasked the Postmaster-General whether the postal deliveries in the Manchester area could be brought nearer to the times that were customary before the War, that is to say, earlier deliveries in the morning and later ones in the evening?
§ The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Ernest Bennett)The first deliveries in the Manchester area are made at approximately the same time as before the War. The final deliveries are completed within the normal hours of business. The establishment of a later evening delivery, which could not be confined to Manchester, would involve heavy cost and administrative inconvenience, and would not in, my opinion be warranted at the present time.
