HC Deb 16 July 1935 vol 304 cc873-4
11. Mr. NORTH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the present arrangement with regard to salary and allowances to the chairman of the Disarmament Conference; what is the total amount which has been drawn by the chairman on this account since the office was instituted; and what number of meetings have been attended by him in that capacity during the current year?

Sir A. LAMBERT WARD

I have been asked to reply. The President of the Disarmament Conference receives no salary, but the League of Nations pays subsistence, travelling and entertainment allowances to him in respect of his visits to Geneva for the work of the Conference. My right hon. Friend does not know the total amount drawn by him on this account since his appointment. The President has attended one meeting of a Committee of the Disarmament Conference during the current year.
