HC Deb 20 February 1935 vol 298 cc345-6
46. Mr. MORGAN JONES

asked the Solicitor-General whether he has now caused an investigation to be made into the relationships between Sir Charles Craven, of Vickers-Armstrongs, Limited, and Mr. Spear, of the Electric Boat Company of America; and, if so, what was the result of such investigation?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL (Sir Thomas Inskip)

Neither I nor my hon. and learned Friend have any power to cause such an investigation to be made, but I am informed by my right hon. Friend the First Lord that, as he informed the House on the 17th December in answer to a question by the hon. Member, the Electric Boat Company, of which Mr. Spear is an official, are licensors for the construction of submarines by Messrs. Vickers-Armstrongs, of which Sir Charles Craven is managing director.
