HC Deb 10 December 1935 vol 307 cc715-6
21. Mr. EDE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has requested the Committee of the Stock Exchange to allow him to see their report on fixed trusts; and, if so, whether he has yet received it?

Dr. BURGIN

By the courtesy of the Committee of the Stock Exchange I have seen copies of documents which they have had under consideration. I understand, however, that, owing to the necessity of consulting various interests, the committee are not yet in a position to issue a report.

Mr. EDE

Does that mean that the hon. Gentleman has in fact seen the report alluded to in the question?

Dr. BURGIN

It means that I have seen a number of documents by the courtesy of the Committee of the Stock Exchange. The subject matter of the hon. Member's question is within the purview of the Committee of the Stock Exchange, and I must have regard to their wishes in the matter. They have told me that, owing to the necessity of consulting various interests, they are not yet in a position to issue a report. I must abide by that decision.
