HC Deb 16 April 1935 vol 300 cc1667-8
28. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of burglaries that have taken place in Carntyne, Glasgow, during the last three months?

Sir G. COLLINS

During the last three months, eight cases of theft by housebreaking and two cases of theft by shopbreaking have occurred in this district.

Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

In view of the disturbing number of burglaries in Carntyne during the last three months, can the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that the police will pay more attention to this district in future?

Sir G. COLLINS

The hon. Member is no doubt aware that the duties of the chief constable rests entirely with the local authority, and I entrust them to exercise proper care and discretion now that the facts are known.
