HC Deb 29 November 1934 vol 295 cc989-90
13. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Home Secretary whether he can state the position with regard to the introduction of new regulations or legislation to deal with non-inflammable films; whether consultation will take place with any bodies before such alteration is made in the present position; and, if so, with what organisations?

Captain CROOKSHANK

I cannot say more at present than that the draft of new Regulations under the Cinematograph Act, 1909, is not yet completed. When it is ready, it will be communicated to a number of organisations which have been in touch with the Home Office and to any other interested organisation which chooses to apply for a copy. It goes without saying that full consideration will be given to any representations made by such organisations.

Captain MACDONALD

Will the Home Secretary consult educational authorities before issuing new regulations which might have the effect of preventing films being used for educational purposes in the schools?

Captain CROOKSHANK

I have just said that anyone who is interested in the regulations can apply for a copy.
