HC Deb 22 November 1934 vol 295 c251
39. Mr. MANDER

asked the Prime Minister whether the pronouncement of the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs was made with the approval of the Government when he stated at Newport on 16th November that the Government would welcome inquiry into the private manufacture of arms; and, if so, what steps are being taken to set up such an inquiry?

The PRIME MINISTER

Perhaps the hon. Member would be good enough to await the statement which will he made on behalf of the Government in the course of the Debate to-day.

Major Sir ARCHIBALD SINCLAIR

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when that statement will he made? Will it be at the end of the day?

The PRIME MINISTER

In the course of the Debate.
