HC Deb 08 November 1934 vol 293 cc1264-5
44. Mr. PERKINS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether any of the animals recently discovered to be suffering from foot-and-mouth disease at Bisley, Gloucestershire, had been imported from Ireland?

Mr. ELLIOT

No, Sir.

48. Mr. PERKINS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can give the House any information of the probable duration of the 15-mile standstill order as a result of an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease at Bisley, Gloucestershire, in the event of there being no other outbreak in that area?

Mr. ELLIOT

Two outbreaks have been confirmed in the area in question, the second on the 7th November at Woodchester, about five miles from Bisley. If no further outbreak occurs in the meantime, the area to which the restrictions apply will he reduced on 22nd November to one covering approximately an area of five miles round the two infected farms. This area again will be further reduced on the 29th November to two areas of approximately two miles around each infected farm, the restrictions being due for final removal on the 6th December.
