§ 41. Major CARVERasked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the system adopted by the Manx government in developing a scheme of subsidised wages for agricultural workers whereby every farmer who employs an additional man will pay 50 per cent. of the wages, the object being to remove an unemployed man from the receipt of relief; and whether he will consider applying such a scheme in this country?
§ Mr. ELLIOTMy attention has been drawn to the scheme in question, and similar schemes have been sumitted to this and previous Governments. I have not found any such scheme which would be applicable to this country.
