HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 c137
48. Captain STRICKLAND

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will inform the House as to the position of the resumption of the inquiry by the Tariff Advisory Committee into the question of the silk and artificial silk duties; what difficulties prevent that resumption; and whether he will expedite the matter?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Chamberlain)

I can assure my hon. and gallant Friend that every effort is being made to expedite this matter and I hope shortly to be in a position to make a further statement about it.
