HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 cc137-8
49. Mr. LEONARD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that a substantial part of the furnishings of the "Lusitania" and "Aquitania" were satisfactorily performed by Scottish furniture firms; if he will draw the attention of the Cunard Company to the public advantage to be gained by the spread of contracts for No. 534 over as large an area as possible; and, in view of the large percentage of unemployment amongst Scottish furniture workers, will he direct the company's attention to the ability of Scottish furniture firms to meet their requirements?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I will communicate the hon. Member's suggestion to the Cunard Company.
