HC Deb 22 March 1934 vol 287 c1386
51. Mr. CULVER WELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any director of the Suez Canal Company appointed by this Government has visited the canal within the last three months; and, if so, has he lodged any report with the Government?

Sir J. SIMON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part, the Resident Director is in constant communication with my Department with regard to the affairs of the company.

Mr. CULVERWELL

Has any recommendation been made by the resident director; and, if so, what action do the Government propose to take on it?

Sir J. SIMON

Does the hon. Member mean in connection with the subject mentioned in the question?

Mr. CULVERWELL

On matters of general concern to British shipping and trade interests?

Sir J. SIMON

I think that question will have to be put on the Paper.
