HC Deb 22 March 1934 vol 287 cc1385-6
50. Mr. ROSS TAYLOR

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what further steps are being taken to secure the co-operation of other Powers in abating the pollution of the sea and the sea-coast and the damage to bird and fish life caused by the discharge of oil from ships?

Sir J. SIMON

As a result of the replies received from the chief maritime Powers, steps are now being taken to inform them of the intention of His Majesty's Government to raise the question of oil pollution at the next meeting of the Assembly of the League of Nations.

Mr. MARTIN

Does the right hon. Gentleman intend to bring to the notice of these people the fact that there is now a separator which will help the object which he has in view?

Sir J. SIMON

I shall be glad to consider it.
