HC Deb 21 June 1934 vol 291 c533
24. Mr. MANDER

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware of the serious pollution of the River Tame passing through Portobello and Willenhall, Staffordshire; and what steps are being taken to abate the nuisance?

Sir H. YOUNG

A complaint of pollution has been received, and I am inquiring into the matter. The complainant, as he has been informed, should communicate with the county council, the authority under the Rivers Pollution Prevention Act.

Mr. MANDER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that efforts have been made for many months past to get some action taken, but without success; and will he see what he can do to stimulate action?

Sir H. YOUNG

Yes, Sir. That is the object of the inquiries to which I have referred.
