HC Deb 21 June 1934 vol 291 c545
51. Mr. KIRKWOOD

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that the Clyde Valley Electrical Power Company, whose charges have been the subject of protest by consumers in the supply area, have reduced the rates to domestic consumers in Rutherglen and Burnside; if he will take action to secure similar reductions for householders in other areas of the company supply; and will he state the difference in cost between the company and the Glasgow Corporation electricity department charges?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Lieut.-Colonel Headlam)

I was not previously aware of the facts mentioned in the first part of the hon. Member's question as there is no obligation on supply authorities to notify the Minister of Transport of reductions in charges which they may make from time to time. I will however, make inquiries and let the hon. Member know the result.
