HC Deb 16 July 1934 vol 292 c760
6. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has yet made representations to the Government of Cuba regarding the losses sustained by a British subject, Mrs. Richard Brooks, during the revolution in August, 1933; and what was the result?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

A number of claims in connection with the losses sustained by British subjects during the revolution of August last are under consideration in consultation with His Majesty's Minister at Havana, and amongst these claims is that of Mrs. Brooks. A good deal of further information is needed in respect of some of the claims, and no representations have yet been addressed to the Cuban Government on the subject.

Sir A. KNOX

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when a decision in regard to this matter is likely to be reached?

Sir J. SIMON

The matter is not being overlooked, but we must examine all the claims together.
