HC Deb 06 February 1934 vol 285 c951
38. Mr. TURTON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has represented to the Spanish Government that the 35 per cent. rebate in customs duties on imported British motor-cars should apply as from 14th June last; and whether he will take all necessary steps to secure that the treatment accorded to this country in the matter is the complete fulfilment of the provisions of the Anglo-Spanish treaty in this respect?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The arrangement which I have previously described was agreed to in order to secure the earliest possible settlement of the whole matter in the interests of future trade, and I am not prepared now to re-open this particular issue.
