HC Deb 04 December 1934 vol 295 cc1396-7
15. Mr. GUY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has received any recent communication from the East of Scotland Milk Producers' Association with reference to the recommendations of the committee of investigation; and whether he can make any statement thereon?

18. Captain SHAW

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals he intends to make with a view to alleviating the hardships of the level milk producers in Scotland?

Sir G. COLLINS

I have received a report of the proceedings at recent meetings of producers both in the East and in the South West of Scotland, and the whole position is receiving my active consideration in consultation with my right hon. Friend, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and with the Scottish Milk Marketing Board. I hope to be in a position to make a statement in the course of a few days.

Mr. GUY

As the gap between the proposals of the right hon. Gentleman and the claims of the East of Scotland producers is a small one, may I ask if the right hon. Gentleman will endeavour to close it altogether and prevent the scheme from breaking down?

Sir G. COLLINS

I understand that discusisons are taking place at this moment with the representatives of the Scottish Marketing Board in London.

Mr. LAMBERT

Will a pronouncement be made simultaneously in England?

Sir G. COLLINS

I cannot say. In all matters dealing with marketing schemes I am always in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture.
