HC Deb 03 December 1934 vol 295 c1234
47. Mr. DINGLE FOOT

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government has now considered the issues raised in the report of the Committee on Ministers' Powers; and what action is to be taken to give effect to the committee's recommendations?

The PRIME MINISTER

As the hon. Member is aware, the report raises a large number of important issues with which the Government cannot hope to find any opportunity of dealing as a whole in present circumstances. The views expressed are, however, being borne in mind in relation to current legislation as occasion arises.

Mr. FOOT

Can the right hon. Gentleman say what the attitude of the Government is towards the major recommendations of that committee? The report was produced two and a-half years ago, and, as the House has not had art opportunity of discussing it, will the right hon. Gentleman see whether it is not possible to give us that opportunity during the present Session?
