HC Deb 19 April 1934 vol 288 cc1122-3
42. Mr. DAVID GRENFELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will take steps, with a view to the appointment by the League of Nations of a special commission, to consider international action to bring the adoption of oil separators on board all oil-driven and oil-carrying ships sailing under the flags of all nations?

The LORD PRIVY SEAL (Mr. Eden)

As my right hon. Friend stated in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Woodbridge (Mr. Ross Taylor) on the 22nd March, steps are being taken to inform the chief maritime Powers of the intention of His Majesty's Government to raise the question of oil pollution at the next meeting of the Assembly of the League of Nations. The form in which the question will be raised is under consideration and the hon. Member's suggestion will be borne in mind.
