HC Deb 19 April 1934 vol 288 c1122
40. Mr. POTTER

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether his attention has been called to the untidy appearance of the fire-prevention space between the west side of the National Gallery and Messrs. Hampton's premises; and whether he will consider designing a simple masking architectural scheme to bring this space into harmony with the Trafalgar Square buildings while preserving the open space as a fire-guard for the National Gallery?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

I will consider my hon. Friend's suggestion and communicate with him in due course.
