HC Deb 19 April 1934 vol 288 c1122
39. Mr. DAGGAR

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what instructions have been given to the Economic Development Committee set up in Kenya Colony as to the lines it shall follow in investigating possibilities of developing native reserves?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

The committee is one appointed by the Governor of Kenya. I am not aware that the committee has received any instructions other than its terms of reference, which I understand are as follow: to examine and advise upon any proposals directed towards the improvement of the Colony's balance of trade and towards the maintenance and development of its agricultural and industrial resources.
