HC Deb 28 November 1933 vol 283 c670
25. Mr. WHITE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been drawn to the withdrawal of the compensation system by the Turkish Government and the effects on British trade of the commercial conventions entered into by Turkey with other countries; and if he is taking any action in the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am aware of the matters referred to in the first part of the question. As regards the second part, representations have already been made to the Turkish Government regarding the most-favoured-nation rights which this country possesses by treaty, and the whole question is receiving careful consideration.
