HC Deb 31 May 1933 vol 278 cc1861-2
9. Sir CHARLES CAYZER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any special steps are at present taken in the Royal Navy to commemorate the anniversary of the battle of Jutland; and whether he will consider according some special privilege to all ranks and ratings on this day in order to mark the nation's appreciation of the services rendered by the Navy in this action?

Sir B. EYRES MONSELL

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. With regard to the second part, it is not the custom in the Royal Navy to celebrate the anniversary of any of our naval victories in this manner, and I do not think that it is desirable to set such a precedent.
