HC Deb 22 March 1933 vol 276 cc310-1
28. Mr. ALEXANDER RAMSAY

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he will state the present liability of the Government in respect of export credits to Russia insured by his Department?

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave last Monday in answer to a question put by my hon. Friend the Member for Chislehurst (Mr. Smithers).

Mr. RAMSAY

Is it proposed to increase the Government credit in the present circumstances.

Lieut.-Colonel COLVILLE

I think that, if my hon. Friend reads the reply to which I have referred, he will see that due caution is being observed having regard to the circumstances.

Mr. SMITHERS

Have the Government yet come to any definite decision as to stopping the credit if the prisoners are not released?

Mr. SPEAKER

That does not arise on this question.
