HC Deb 21 March 1933 vol 276 cc180-1
6. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the President of the Board of Trade, whether it is his intention to introduce any legislation in the near future to deal with the problem of coast erosion?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

As I informed my hon. and gallant Friend on the 8th March of last year, I cannot undertake to introduce legislation on this subject unless the Bill could be proceeded with substantially as an agreed Measure.

Captain MACDONALD

May I ask what steps the right hon. Gentleman is taking to find what measure of agree- ment there is in the House on this subject? Owing to the amount of coast erosion that is occurring, this is a very urgent matter. Will he consult with Members representing coast constituences to see whether there is agreement on the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Yes, sir, we are ready to receive representations from anyone who is directly interested in this subject.
