asked the Minister of Labour the number of registered and unregistered trade unions in Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the years 1920 and 1930 respectively; and the membership of registered and unregistered trade unions for the same periods?

The numbers of registered and unregistered trade unions of employes in Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the end of 1920 and at the end of 1930 were 1,368 and 1,098 respectively. The memberships were 8,339,000 in 1920 (of whom about 7 millions were in registered unions), and 4,824,000 in 1930. (of whom about 3¾ millions were in registered unions).
