HC Deb 25 July 1933 vol 280 c2394
21. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the effect on the sale of British motor cars of the new Franco-Spanish trade agreement; and whether he can make any statement on the subject?

Dr. BURGIN

My attention has been drawn to the effect of the agreement referred to, and representations in the matter have been addressed to the Spanish Government.

Mr. SMITH

Seeing that the British motor car industry has been so successful recently in extending its export trade, including that to Spain, will the hon. Gentleman take any possible steps to remove this handicap which has been created in favour of France

Dr. BURGIN

Yes, Sir.
