HC Deb 05 July 1933 vol 280 cc318-9
13. Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make a statement as to the extent to which orders have been made by him, on the application of councils to which Section 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1930, applies, for restricting the use of vehicles in specified roads; and what orders, if any, have been made to prohibit or restrict the driving of vehicles on public roads in any of the six counties of North Wales?

Mr. STANLEY

Eighty such orders have been made since 1st December, 1930, when the section came into operation—none of which affect North Wales. I have only received four applications for orders under the Section from counties in North Wales which are under consideration at the present time.

14. Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the difficulties which road users and others experience owing to the large number of regulations and orders issued under the provisions of the several parts of the Road Traffic Act, 1930; and whether he will consider the desirability of publishing a consolidated code of all such regulations and orders?

Mr. STANLEY

It is intended to consolidate so far as possible the various regulations made under the Road Traffic Act, 1930, and I hope flat this will prove practicable in the near future.
