HC Deb 27 February 1933 vol 275 c4
4. Mr. D. GRENFELL (forDr. J. WILLIAMS)

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the services of any member of the Indian Civil Service have been requisitioned for use in the State of Alwar for revenue purposes; and, if so, what will be the nature of his duties?

Mr. BUTLER

An Indian Civil Service officer, who is a member of the Indian Political Department, is being lent to the Alwar Darbar to hold the appointment of Prime Minister and Revenue Minister. He will exercise control over all Departments within the State, and questions from all Departments which require to be referred to His Highness will be referred through the Prime Minister.

11. Mr. T. WILLIAMS (forMajor MILNER)

asked the Secretary of State for India what is the number of persons who have been arrested in British India in connection with the Alwar Meo movement; and what procedure has been followed in connection with their trial?

Mr. BUTLER

The reports received by me contain no mention of arrests made in British India in this connection. Any persons that may have been arrested there would be tried by the ordinary courts.
