HC Deb 16 February 1933 vol 274 c1151
7. Mr. G. HALL

asked the Minister of Labour what particular provisions have been made to provide work for unemployed women; what number it is estimated have been, or will be, absorbed under such schemes; and the total cost?

Sir H. BETTERTON

The Central Committee on Women's Training are carrying out training schemes which result in the placing, chiefly in domestic employment, of 4,000 women and girls in the course of a year. The cost of this training is approximately £70,000. Further, a number of centres have been opened by voluntary organisations throughout the country where unemployed women and wives of unemployed men attend for various types of domestic occupation.
