HC Deb 11 December 1933 vol 284 cc3-4
4. Mr. T. SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for India if arrangements have yet been made for the inauguration of an air service between Madras and Calcutta; and whether this service will be used for the conveyance of mails?

Sir S. HOARE

Proposals have been submitted to the Government of India by a firm in Madras to be permitted to operate a weekly air mail service between Madras and Calcutta. The Government of India reported last month that these proposals were under consideration, but I have not yet been informed what decision has been reached.
