HC Deb 11 December 1933 vol 284 c3
3. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he has given his approval to the transfer to London of Mr. A. F. Senior, superintendent in the Pubjab Police Department, for service as an instructor at the Metropolitan Police College; whether Mr. Senior has been seconded by the Government of India; whether he will be in receipt of any salary from the Government of India during his absence on duty in London; and whether the time that he spends on duty in London will count towards his pension out of Indian revenues?

Sir S. HOARE

The answers to the first and second parts are in the affirmative and to the third part in the negative. With regard to the fourth part, the time spent by the officer on duty in this country will count towards Indian pension, but at the expense of the Home authorities.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Are we to understand from the reply that during the period when this officer is serving in London the Indian Government will not be called on to pay his salary?

Sir S. HOARE

That is so.
