SMITHasked the Secretary of State for India when it is expected that the field brigade of Indian artillery will be complete; to what extent it will be officered by Indians; and when it is expected that this brigade will be in a position to replace a brigade of the Royal Artillery at present in India?
§ Sir S. HOAREIt is expected that this brigade will be ready to replace a brigade of the Royal Artillery early in 1935. It will be officered in the first instance by British officers volunteering from the Royal Artillery, with such number of Indian officers as may at the time be available from Indian Mountain Artillery units. The British officers will thereafter be replaced by Indian officers from the Indian Military Academy or from mountain artillery as these become available.
