HC Deb 04 April 1933 vol 276 c1571
39. Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is now in a position to state what action, if any, he considers it advisable to take in regard to the practice of the police furnishing witnesses for the prosecution in cases of indictable offences with copies of statements which they have made?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Gilmour)

After consultation with Mr. Justice Humphreys, I do not find it necessary to issue any circular to the police. Wide publicity has already been given to the learned judge's remarks, which, he informs me, were intended by him to apply to the facts of the particular case which he was trying.
