HC Deb 25 October 1932 vol 269 c818
58. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to the fact that from reports published by some of the leading brewery companies it would appear that the loss on Income Tax owing to reduced profits during the current year will considerably exceed the increased amount collected by way of higher duty on beer; and what action does he propose to take?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I am aware that the reports of certain brewery companies show a reduction in profits, but I fear I can add nothing to my statements on this point in the Debates during the course of the Finance Bill.
