§ 64. Mr. STOURTONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his attention has been called to the judgment given at the London Bankruptcy Court on 13th July, by which Sir Thomas Beecham has evaded a large amount of Surtax; if he can state the total loss to the Exchequer; and what steps he proposes to take to prevent the recurrence of such losses in future?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the question by the hon. and learned Member for Moss Side (Sir G. Hurst) on the 20th April last. As regards the second part of his question, as I stated on the 8th June during the Committee stage of the Finance Bill, the matter is at present receiving my careful consideration.
§ 65. Mr. JOELasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider in his next Budget the desirability of permitting an allowance for a dependant in each case where a son or daughter makes a contribution to the weekly revenue of unemployed parents?
