HC Deb 12 May 1932 vol 265 c2082
59. Mr. LEONARD

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the comment by the Scottish Land Court upon the management of lands by the Department of Agriculture for Scotland, particularly in regard to want of drainage of grazing lands and consequent disease and depreciation of sheep stocks, what steps he has taken to rectify matters and stop depreciation of State-owned lands through want of management?

Sir A. SINCLAIR

It is assumed that the hon. Member refers to Land Court Orders dealing with certain holdings on the Department's estates, to which are appended in a few cases notes or caveats indicating the desirability of attention to drainage. Responsibility for maintaining the drainage of hill pasture rests with the holders whose rents have been fixed on that basis.
