HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 c1465
38. Mr. MANDER

asked the President of the Board of Trade the attitude of the Government to the question of adhering to the convention for a reduction of tariffs recently concluded between Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg?

Mr. COLVILLE

So far as I am aware, the convention referred to has not yet been signed or assumed its final shape, and in any case it has not yet been brought into force between the signatory countries. The question of His Majesty's Government's adherence to it, therefore, does not yet arise.

Mr. MANDER

Is it not the policy of the Government to arrange for multilateral or bilateral economic disarmament on these lines?

Mr. COLVILLE

I was asked about adherence, and I have explained to my hon. Friend that until the treaty takes a more definite shape that question does not arise.
