HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 c1462
44. Mr. POTTER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, seeing that the rearrangement of the accountant's and secretary's departments of the Admiralty will save no more than £8,000 a year, he will reconsider his decision and allow a committee of three Members of this House, to be nominated by the Economy Committees, to investigate the non-effective staff employed by the Admiralty?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Lord Stanley)

No Sir, and I should like to point out that the reply to which the hon. Member refers did not state that this reorganisation would save no more than £8,000 a year, but that it would save at least £8,000 a year. This is only one of the directions in which economies are being sought.
