HC Deb 23 June 1932 vol 267 c1241
16. Mr. LUNN

asked the Home Secretary whether any payment is made from the funds of the Metropolitan Police in respect of the salary of Colonel Drummond, temporary personal assistant to Lord Trenchard; if so, what is the amount; and when it is expected that the services of this officer can be dispensed with?

Mr. STANLEY

Colonel Drummond's salary paid from the Metropolitan Police Fund is at the rate of £700 a year. The appointment is on a temporary footing, but I cannot say as yet when it will be possible to dispense with Colonel Drummond's services.

Mr. LUNN

Could not this position be better filled by a regular police officer?

Mr. STANLEY

I understand that this gentleman has special qualifications in regard to office reorganisation.

Mr. LUNN

Has he ever been, a policeman?

Mr. STANLEY

He has been in the Army.
