HC Deb 23 June 1932 vol 267 c1241
15. Mr. JOHN

asked the Home Secretary the manner in which it is proposed to dispose of the excess over the estimated saving in expenditure on the police forces of England and Wales recouped from the pay, etc., of the police and other economies?

Mr. STANLEY

I think my hon. Friend may be under a misapprehension. The charges falling on the Exchequer in respect of the expenditure on the police are based upon the actual ascertained expenditure falling on the local police funds, and no question of the disposal of any excess saving can therefore arise.
