HC Deb 16 February 1932 vol 261 c1458
57. Mr. McENTEE (for Mr. D GRAHAM)

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will furnish figures showing for the years ending May, 1930 and 1931, the total of assistance granted by the local education authorities to students attending universities, and what proportion of this expenditure was in respect of students who received part of their education in primary schools?

Sir A. SINCLAIR

The assistance granted by education authorities to students attending universities was £73,000 in the year ended 15th May, 1930, and £72,000 in the following year. The information available does not enable me to say how much of the expenditure was in respect of students who received some of their education in primary schools, but it may be taken that the greater part of it was in respect of such students.
