HC Deb 25 April 1932 vol 265 c15
46. Mr. VYVYAN ADAMS

asked the Prime Minister whether, in the interests of economy and in view of the fees paid to the Law Officers of England, he will consider suspending or further substantially reducing the salary paid to them as Ministers of the Crown?

The LORD PRESIDENT of the COUNCIL (Mr. Baldwin)

The salaries of the Law Officers of England have already been substantially reduced and now amount in the aggregate to £4,000 as compared with £13,000 prior to October last. I cannot accept my hon. Friend's view that further consideration of this matter is called for.

Mr. ADAMS

Is a Law Officer to be regarded primarily as a Minister or a practising barrister?
