HC Deb 23 November 1931 vol 260 c39
54. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Postmaster-General what is the amount of circular matter posted abroad by British firms for delivery by the Post Office in this country; what is the estimated loss suffered by the Post Office through this practice; and whether he proposes to take steps to deal with it?

Sir K. WOOD

I have no reason for thinking that the practice to which the hon. Member refers is prevalent at the present time, but, if he will be good enough to supply me with particulars of any cases he may have in mind, I shall be glad to inquire into them. I may add that I have ample powers for dealing with the practice when in my opinion the object is to evade payment of inland postage.
