HC Deb 23 November 1931 vol 260 cc38-9
52. Mr. HANLEY

asked the Postmaster-General the number of prosecu- tions of Post Office employés during the last 12 months; and whether the number of prosecutions is increasing?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir Kingsley Wood)

282 Post Office servants were prosecuted during the 12 months ended 31st October last. This figure is substantially the same us that fur other recent years, and there is no indication of increasing dishonesty. The number of prosecutions in relation to the total number of officers employed is extremely small, and I am glad to have this opportunity of paying a tribute to the high standard of honesty maintained amongst the Post Office staff generally.
