HC Deb 04 May 1931 vol 252 c7
7. Lieut. - Colonel Sir FREDERICK HALL

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware of the military preparations under the direction of Russian experts in the republics bordering upon the frontiers of Persia and Afghanistan; and what precautionary measures the Government propose to adopt to safeguard British interests in India?

Mr. BENN

I do not know what activities the hon. and gallant Member has in mind.

Sir F. HALL

If I bring to the right hon. Gentleman's notice reports with regard to these military preparations which are being made at Tashkend and Samarkand in the building of aerodromes, will he look into the matter?

Mr. BENN

I am sure my advisers will be grateful to the hon. and gallant Gentleman.
