HC Deb 12 March 1931 vol 249 c1364
28. Mr. TINKER

asked the Home Secretary how many cases of lump-sum agreements under the Workmen's Compensation Act during 1929 were objected to by the registrar when first presented to him because the amount offered was too low; and will he say in how many cases the original sum was increased before the registrar would record the memorandum?

Mr. CLYNES

As shown on page 15 of the Workmen's Compensation Statistics for 1929, the figures asked for are 1,038 and 834, respectively.

Mr. TINKER

Can my right hon. Friend tell us whether the offers were made first of all by the insurance companies or by the men's employers?

Mr. CLYNES

I should require notice in order to answer that question.
