HC Deb 12 March 1931 vol 249 c1377
61. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Minister of Health what progress has been made in slum clearance in Kent during the last 12 months?

Mr. GREENWOOD

During the past 12 months arrangements have been made for the acquisition of all the properties comprised in the only slum clearance scheme made under the old legislation in the county of Kent. As regards progress under the Housing Act, 1930, I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the reply given by me to a question put by my hon. Friend, the Member for Dartford (Mr. Mills) on the 21st January last. Since the date of that reply one area in the county, occupied by 420 persons, has been declared a clearance area.

Mr. ALBERY

Is the right hon. Gentleman taking any steps to expedite the present slum clearance schemes?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Yes, now that the county council elections are over.
